Shifter is now live

After months of building and testing, we're proud to officially launch Shifter for the winter season - the simplest way to find hospitality staff or shifts in the Chamonix Valley.

Hello and welcome to Shifter.

I'm Jonas, and I'm really happy to finally introduce a tool we've been working on for a while now.

The Story Behind Shifter

Since I arrived in the Chamonix Valley in 2024, I've seen first hand how complex hospitality shifts can be. Through friends, local networks, work and consulting missions, the same issues kept coming back. Finding extra cleaners after unexpected chalet bookings. Properties under pressure during peak season. Independent workers struggling to find new shifts even though opportunities are everywhere.

Chamonix, like many touristic areas, is a boiling ecosystem. Full of energy, full of work, full of opportunities. That's one of the best things about it. But it can also become overwhelming very quickly, on both sides.

With my business partner Orlando, we've been building digital products for years through our studio. When it comes to the pain points around hospitality shifts here in the valley, the idea was obvious. We decided to build something simple, local and efficient. After months of experimenting and building, we're proud to officially launch Shifter for the winter season.

This is Version 1

Shifter is still a v1. And that's important. We'll be continuously improving it, adding new features and refining the experience. We're also counting a lot on our first users. Your feedback, the problems you encounter, the features you'd love to see. You can reach us anytime through the contact form or on our social channels.

We'll also keep the changelog updated with every significant improvement we roll out. It's available directly in the app, on both sides.

So what is Shifter exactly?

Shifter is the simplest way to find hospitality staff or shifts in a local area. We're starting at home, in Chamonix, and we'll expand to other areas soon.

For Properties

For properties, restaurants or individuals who need reliable help, you can easily post a new shift with your specific criteria. Skills, languages, professional status for invoicing and more. Shifter then notifies all available workers that match your needs and helps you get in touch quickly.

For Workers

For workers, whether you're an experienced cleaner or chef, or a student looking to make some extra money, it's just as simple. Create your profile, set your availability, and receive notifications for upcoming shifts. You can accept or decline freely.

Our Role is Simple

One important thing to be very clear about: Shifter's role is to connect people, nothing more. We simply put the two sides in relation. We don't manage the shifts, we don't handle contracts, payments or invoicing, and we don't take any commission on wages. Once the connection is made, everything happens directly between the property and the worker.

The goal with Shifter is to remove all the hassle around finding extras or shifts. Simple on the surface, powerful underneath. And the possibilities are endless. New skills, new needs, new use cases. Shifter will grow with its community.

Pricing

On pricing, it's very straightforward.

Shifter is totally free for workers, and it always will be. Our workers database is the real treasure of Shifter.

For properties, you only pay a small fee when posting a shift, or you can subscribe to an unlimited plan if you post regularly.

Thanks a lot for joining and supporting Shifter. We're really looking forward to hearing your feedback and building this together.

Have a great (and busy) winter season!

Founder of Shifter

French by origin, Jonas spent years living across the world before falling in love with Chamonix and deciding to stay for good. A tech enthusiast and entrepreneur, he builds digital products, consults for local businesses, and works with his wife on cultural projects. Shifter came out of a simple observation: local businesses and the people working in them were struggling to find each other. When he is not at the keyboard, you will find him in the mountains with his wife and dog.
